Underworld have announced three shows in London to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark anthem ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’. The Welsh duo, aka Karl Hyde and Rick Smith, will play three nights at London’s O2 Academy in Brixton on 5th, 6th and 7th of February 2026 as part of (nuxx) thirty. Tickets are now available here. A limited edition 30th anniversary vinyl edition featuring an outer matte black sleeve with silk black lettering and an inner bag with new artwork is also being released this week. As is a limited run black (nuxx) jacket with a printed inner lining designed by Smith and Hyde. You can buy those on Underworld’s website. ‘Born Sluppy (Nuxx)’ is one of the most celebrated tracks in the history of dance music. Originally released under the name ‘.NUXX’ in 1995 as a B-side to a different instrumental track called ‘Born Slippy’, the track – featuring Hyde’s instantly recognisable vocals – received little mainstream attention at first. After filmmaker Danny Boyle reportedly discovered it while browsing in HMV, he used it in the soundtrack to his 1996 film Trainspotting, which set it on course to become the iconic anthem it is today. On UK CD versions of the release, the ‘.NUXX’ version transitions into a third track, ‘Born Slippy .TELEMATIC’. The track later reached No.2 two on the UK singles chart. A new version with timestretched chords was created for the 2017 sequel, T2 Trainspotting. Hyde has said in interviews the lyrics were inspired by his own issues with alcohol and came to him after a night of drinking in Soho while trying to get home to Romford. Underworld recently collaborated with producer-of-the-moment KETTAMA on two tracks, ‘g-town euphoria (luna)’ and ‘Fen Violet’. Last October, Underworld released ‘Strawberry Hotel’, their first album since 2019. Earlier this year, Underworld’s ‘Dark & Long (Dark Train)’ was sampled in PinkPantheress’ viral hit, ‘Illegal’, lifted from her ‘Fancy That’ mixtape.
