The first events in Tomorrowland and Insomniac’s joint UNITY series took place at the Las Vegas Sphere over the weekend. Headline performances for the first three events came from Chase & Status, Kaskade and Eli Brown, who each played to a “groundbreaking audiovisual” backdrop that brought together cinematic 360° visuals and fantasy-style world-building. Their sets were interspersed with original orchestration from Tomorrowland’s The Symphony of Unity, who helped bring the festival’s stories of Adscendo, Orbyz and Planaxis to life. Check out some of the action from UNITY’s opening weekend via Instagram below. The UNITY series offers music and “storytelling” via state-of-the-art technology. Further events from the series will take place at the Sphere on September 19th – 20th, September 26th – 27th and October 18th – 19th. Performances will come from the likes of Sara Landry, DJ Snake, Alan Walker, Meduza & James Hype, Slander and Subtronics. For tickets and more information, head to unityxsphere.com. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the team behind the immersive, 360 foot-tall Las Vegas Sphere are reportedly planning several new “mini-Sphere” entertainment venues in other cities. In January, Ellie and Goulding and Anyma — the highest new entry in last year’s DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll at No. 17 — performed their collaborative single ‘Hypnotized’ live on stage during Anyma’s Sphere residency in Las Vegas. Later this year, orchestra will be releasing their first full LP featuring their updates of some of the rave classics that have become staples in their sets.
